A little over 12 months ago we posted an article about the mobile world after August 2011. In it we detailed some of the more interesting things that had happened that year, as well as some of the bigger stories. We also tried our best to get our readers to take a step back and look at the tech world from the outside.
Microsoft recently showed off a rather innovative product at its Digital Worldwide Partner Conference (DWPC) that has some seriously interesting potential. Dubbed “Windows to Go”, the new portable version of Windows is essentially a 32GB memory stick specifically designed to carry around Windows 8 and save personal data, apps and settings. The stick essentially allows the user to plug in to a PC that is running Windows 7 and immediately begin running Windows 8 with the same saved data, all without any downloads or installation time.
There’s been some confusion regarding the two new Surface Tablets that were recently announced by Microsoft and what those differences mean, if anything. Of the two that have been announced one will come running Windows RT and the other will use Windows 8 Pro as its operating system (OS).
Microsoft has actually managed to impress tech gurus and tablet fans alike around the world with the announcement of its new and upcoming Microsoft Surface Tablet. Complete with 10.6 inch screen, Gorilla Glass 2 display and new VaporMG scratch-resistant casing, the Microsoft Surface tablet continued to bring out more and more new features with every successive announcement.
It seems like we’ve been covering a lot more Windows Phone and Windows Tablet related news than usual of late and we’re totally fine with that. Times are changing and with the new day is coming a more varied market with Microsoft actually staking its claim as a real competitor in the smartphone and, hopefully, tablet market with its Windows Phone and Windows 8 operating systems.
It was probably inevitable, but now we’re starting to hear rumors that Nokia and Microsoft will be continuing their mobile alliance with the creation of a Windows 8 Tablet. The tablet in question is expected to be released in Q4 of this year and to come running on a dual-core Snapdragon chipset.
Microsoft has released a test beta of Windows 8 for anyone curious enough to try. As expected, the new OS from Microsoft features heavily around gesture interfacing in an order to accommodate the new line of Windows 8 tablets which are slated to start hitting stores both this year and next.
