Goodness knows the original Galaxy S had more versions of it than you could shake a stick at and, true to form, it looks like Samsung is taking the same path with the Galaxy S II.
Introducing the Samsung Galaxy Z (I9103); the first semi-clone of the Galaxy S II. The Galaxy Z is a phone that sports a modern look and feel, but with a down-grading in both hardware and price when compared to Samsung’s new flagship phone of similar external design.
With just a dual-core 1GHz processor, 480x800 resolution 4.2 inch S-LCD display and 5MP camera the Galaxy Z’s spec is basically one step down in every way from the Galaxy S II. But we assume that’s the point, as this handset is sure to cost less than its superior cousin.
For anyone who’s looking for a new phone but doesn’t want to pay top dollar the Galaxy Z should prove to be viable option.
The whole thing comes stock standard with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 8GB of memory, a MicroSD slot for expandable memory up to 32GB and 720p video capture. It’s a little more bulky than the Galaxy S II, measuring at 9.5mm thick rather than just 8.5mm.
That’s about it for now, we’ll keep you updated as more information on this handset comes out. We’re definitely intrigued and would love to see how the Galaxy Z fairs up against the Galaxy S II. For now we’ll have to wait, however, until we can compare functionality to price for this in-house head-to-head.
