If only 14 year old me could see the world now. A wide-eyed teenager who was proud of his parent's 600MHz home computer and was, frankly, astonished when he realised that home computing had finally surpassed the 1GHz mark.
Comparatively, Samsung Galaxy S II is a wonder of modern technology. With a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 16GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM, it’s nothing short of incredible that Samsung managed to contain it to an astonishingly slender 8.5mm profile. However, it seems that out of all possible contenders for the title, NEC has released the Casio Media N-04C in Japan weighing in at just 7.7mm thick.
Looking at a 2012 release outside of Japan, we actually know very little about the Casio Media N-04C’s specs at this time. Just a 4 inch, 480 x 854 display and 5.1 MP camera are known. Apparently the phone will come running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but it’s possible that could see an upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich before it sees a global release.
We’re certainly intrigued and will keep you up to date as we hear more about this new, super-thin device and whether or not it can also take on the Galaxy S II in the hardware department.
