If you’ve been hanging out to get your hands on the HTC One M8 in Amber Gold, the wait is finally over: the somewhat ostentatious version of HTC’s flagship device is now available through Rogers Wireless.
Originally scheduled for release in May, the gold edition of the One M8 was instead held back until now to meet the unexpected demand from interested customers.
Fortunately for those same customers, the One M8’s on-contract pricing has been reduced during the month-long wait. You can pick up the device for $179.99 upfront on a two-year plan – a saving of $50 from the old price – or buy it outright for $699.
For a limited time, customers purchasing selected Android devices on a two-year Share Everything plan can also take home a Sony SmartBand for the reduced price of $29.99 (a saving of $70). Rogers’ Share Everything plans include unlimited talk and texting, and start at $80 per month for 500MB of LTE data.
The Amber Gold HTC One M8 features all the same specs as its more subtle grey and silver counterparts, including a 5-inch screen and a 2.3GHz Snapdragon processor, and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
The gold edition will be exclusive to Rogers in Canada, although the Glacial Silver and Gunmetal Grey versions are still available from other Canadian carriers.
If you'd rather shop around, you can get the One M8 for the slightly lower upfront price of $130 on a two-year contract through TELUS, and $129.95 on Bell plans. WIND also offers the handset on two-year plans, starting from $199 upfront.
