You may not have noticed it was missing, but YouTube for Windows Phone is back.
This after Google pulled its canonical video streaming service from the WP7 and WP8 platforms in May, pointing to a lack of ad support within the YouTube client.
To the disappointment of many Windows Phone users, Google pulled the YouTube app very shortly after it had been upgraded by Microsoft from a glorified redirection service, to a proper application complete with detailed Live Tile integration and proper playlist designs.
Microsoft now says that the app is again ready for release, with ad-support in place, after what seems like an odd amount of time for such minor retooling.
Key Features (according to the official app page):
- Pin videos, playlists, channels and search queries to the Start screen as Live Tiles
- Manage your YouTube profile with your unique My YouTube page
- Manage your playlists, uploads and video lists
- Find channels, videos and playlists with the quick access search bar with new search suggestions
- Share videos to social networks, e-mail and text messages
- Help your kids view age appropriate videos in Kid’s Corner and keep their own profile

Perhaps this marks the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Microsoft and Google…
Hey, at least they’re playing nice.
