Google's take on the 'Find My Phone' functionality offered by Apple is now live.

The Android Device Manager will connect to any phone or tablet linked to your Google account, and uses location services to track your phone on Google Maps.

You can also make the phone ring, if you think you've simply misplaced it under the cushions on the sofa.

After activating a few extra settings on the phone itself, you can also have control of your phone enough to lock it down and wipe its contents, in the event that you think the phone has been stolen.

To switch this functionality on you need to find the 'Google Settings' app on your Android phone, choose the [Android Device Manager] option and check the box that reads [Allow remote lock and factory reset].
