ICS Headed to Galaxy S II March 10
It’s about time. Beginning on March 10, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) will be rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S II devices around the world. This rollout is for the global version of the GS2 and thus won’t help out most US owners, but there should hopefully be an update for the current 3 different Galaxy S II variants on the US market soon.
Samsung Galaxy S III Specs Unveiled
There have been almost as many rumors running around the web about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III than about the soon-to-be-launched iPad 3. Now, finally, we’re getting some pretty viable information about what we can expect from Samsung’s next flagship device.
The Sony Xperia P and U
Not only boasting the Xperia S as its newest Ericsson-less phone line, Sony has introduced the Xperia P and Xperia U. Both the Xperia P and U sport a dual-core 1GHz U8500 chipset and both, unfortunately, will come running Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box with an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to follow in Q2.
HTC One V and One S Unveiled
HTC has unveiled its HTC One series, starting with the HTC One X and continuing with the One V and One S. The HTC One V, previously referred to as the HTC Primo, is looking to be a lower-end device aimed at the more budget-conscious user, while the HTC One S boasts some more impressive hardware.
The HTC One X at MWC
The HTC One X, HTC’s new flagship device, has finally seen its launch at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona. Originally titled as both the HTC Endeavor and HTC Edge, the One X is possibly the most talked-about quad-core handset of the past few months.
LG’s Recent Pre-MWC Devices
LG’s been showing off a few of its upcoming devices lately ahead of the slew of handsets we’re sure to see at MWC in a few days. Whether or not it’s wise to start trickling out its announcements ahead of the huge electronics show is yet to be seen. However, good idea or no LG is still forging ahead so we thought we’d keep you all up to date with what’s going on in LG’s world.
7 Inch ViewSonic ICS Tablet at MWC
ViewSonic is purportedly planning to unveil a new 7 inch Android tablet at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week. From what we’re hearing the device isn’t going to be too high end, meaning it should fall in to the cheaper end of the tablet market. The 7 inch display will sport a 1024x600 resolution, making for a pixel density of 169ppi. That kind of density, couple with claims that it will be “ultra-light” definitely suggest that this will not be a high-end tablet.
More HTC Phone News for MWC
We’ve already done a post about our MWC expectations for HTC, and now it seems that some more info has surfaced. Not only does it look like we will be seeing the HTC Ville, HTC Primo and HTC Edeavor after all, but all three phones will be getting the shiny new titles of HTC One S, HTC One X and HTC One V.
Samsung Announces 7" Galaxy Tab 2
Samsung has unveiled the 7 inch Galaxy Tab 2, the successor to its first 7 inch foray in to the Android tablet market back in 2010. Since then Samsung has had moderate success mixed with extreme legal difficulties with its more recent Galaxy Tab devices, specifically the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
HTC Edge/Endeavor/Supreme
Once known as the HTC Edge, the HTC Endeavor is now looking to see another name-change before it’s released. The new moniker is said to be the HTC Supreme, an apt name but it may become a little awkward in six months’ time when HTC releases a new flagship device.
