Performing a Shaw internet speed test is easy. Follow these steps:

  2. Click the blue Start Speed Test in the upper left hand corner of this page.
  3. Let the test run for a few seconds. The number it provides is your current Shaw internet speed.

What is a good Shaw internet speed?


A good Shaw internet speed is anything over 50Mbps. According to the Canadian government, 50Mbps download and 10Mbps are the minimum qualifications for good internet speed. These rates enable fast downloads and reliable upload performance for most online activities.

Shaw no longer offers internet plans, though Rogers offers plans to former Shaw customers, a partnership they've titled "Rogers together with Shaw." Why is my Shaw internet slow?


If you’re not getting the download, upload, and latency test results you expect, there are a few steps you can take to optimize your internet connection. 

  • Unplug and restart your computer and router.
  • Connect your computer to the modem with an ethernet cable.
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Make sure no other apps are using the internet.

The best Shaw internet plan is now a Rogers internet plan because Shaw is no longer offering internet plans and Shaw internet has been re-branded as "Rogers together with Shaw." The best Rogers internet plan is the Ignite Internet 150u plan, which offers 150Mbps downloads and unlimited data.
