Remember the Motorola Atrix and its amazing Webtop App? Well Motorola's CEO Sanjay Jha has just announced that the Webtop App will start being included in every top-end Motorola smartphone from June 2011 onwards.
The Motorola Atrix is an impressive phone in its own right, with a dual core 1GHz processor, Android 2.2 and stunning 960 x 540 QHD display. But what really set it apart from the competition at the last CES convention was the Webtop App, which allows it to function as a desktop, laptop or even portable media station via some innovative peripherals.
If you haven't read up on the Webtop App yet you should really check it out.
This announcement is sure to keep Motorola firmly in the game for at least this next generation of smartphones, as simply having a powerful device isn't really enough to stay ahead of the curve any more. Companies are starting to have to come up with some really innovative uses for their devices and the Webtop App is certainly that.
We're very happy with this move from Motorola and hope it will spark some hefty competition from some of the bigger players.
Moto's shown their hand, let's see if some of the bigger players like Samsung or Apple have the cards to compete with such a versatile and innovative service as Webtop.
