The OnePlus 3 is now official, and – in a change from prior launches – is available to everyone, without the need for an invitation or wait list.
Previous OnePlus devices have offered high-end specs without the high-end price tag, and the 3 is no exception. This year’s model features a 5.5-inch, 1920x1080 Optic AMOLED display, and a thin, space-grade aluminium alloy body, creating a premium design that fits easily in your pocket.
The OnePlus 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, and includes a generous 6GB of RAM. You’ll get 64GB of storage space, plus a 3000 mAh battery with Dash Charge quick-charging capability – so up to 60% of your device’s battery life can be refreshed in as little as 30 minutes.
Camera-wise, expect a 16-megapixel sensor in back (with both Electronic and Optical Image Stabilization) and 8 megapixels in front. Selfie lovers will appreciate the OnePlus 3’s Smile Capture feature; simply smile, and the front-facing camera will automatically snap a shot for you.
The device also includes a fingerprint sensor, and runs on OxygenOS (OnePlus’ customized adaptation of Android 6.1). You can pick up the unlocked OnePlus 3 in Graphite and Soft Gold colors, with pricing confirmed as $519 outright in Canada.
The OnePlus 3 is available to buyers now, either through OnePlus’ Loop VR app, or directly through the company’s website later today. If you’re interested, we’d advise moving quick: initial supplies aren't expected to last long.
