- Telus and Public Mobile subscribers alike will experience more consistent 5G.
Telus announced plans to expand its 5G network in Quebec by building 20 new towers in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Preparation will begin by the end of 2024, and the carrier hopes the sites will be in operation in 2025.
The initiative is funded by a $9.6 million investment from the wireless carrier, along with financial contributions of $2.7 million from the Government of Quebec and $2.2 million from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.
Although 5G has become more commonplace—with service from the Big Three of Bell, Rogers, and Telus reaching over 70% of Canadians—it’s still mainly limited to the country’s urban centres. While Chaudière-Appalaches currently has some areas with 5G coverage from Telus and Rogers, much of the region is outside the carriers’ high-speed service range.

Telus will be installing wireless sites in Saint-Benjamin, Saint-Damase-de-L'Islet, Saint-Damien-de-Buckland, Saint-Édouard-de-Lotbinière, Saint-Malachie, Saint-Marcel, Saint-Narcisse-de-Beaurivage, Saint-Nérée-de-Bellechasse, Saint-Omer, Sainte-Apolline-de-Patton, Sainte-Félicité and Sainte-Perpétue. The carrier will be installing two sites in Frampton and two in Saint-Cyrille-de-Lessard.
Telus’ expanded 5G means more high-speed coverage for both Telus and Public Mobile subscribers. (Public Mobile is owned by Telus and operates on its parent company’s 5G network.) If you’re looking to grab a 5G plan before the network expansion, you can find those carrier’s best plans below.
