There are many things I miss from my younger days. Trading cards based on movies like Batman and the Ninja Turtles, only owning one pair of shoes and never wondering when to wear them; innocence.
This list could grown longer and yet 'flip phones' would never make the cut.
It's obvious then that Samsung has not consulted me before forging ahead with plans to exhume the flip phone from the mass grave of our collective consciousness. Dubbed Galaxy Folder, it would seem that Samsung intends to mash the present and the past together, powering its flip-revival with Google's Android.
As you can see from the image above, it's not much of a looker but it will, at least, pack some serious hardware -- unlike the flips of yesteryear. Rumours have it sporting LTE networking for fast internet and a dual-core Qualcomm S4 processor.
For my money, the Galaxy Folder needs something unique to itself, something about the software or features that you don't get with a Galaxy S4. The ability to engage with new notifications without opening the phone might be one thing, or excellent keypad shortcuts could be another. I'd even settle for a spring-loaded mechanism that opens the phone like a switchblade.
What do you think? Would you buy an Android-powered flip phone?
