Even if you’re not in to the kind of stuff where you run in to words like “Quantum” and “Teleportation” this news should still pique your interest. Researches from Australia and Japan are now the first to successfully achieve light wave quantum teleportation.
What does that mean? Basically the researches have achieved the almost instantaneous transfer of data (or qubits) from one location to another. This is the first time a complex series of information has been teleported without suffering severe integrity decay.
Basically what we’re looking at here could be a significant step towards Quantum Computing eventually becoming a reality. It has been suggested that a Quantum Computer’s processing speed would potentially be trillions of times faster than our modern “fast” 64-bit operating systems. And we thought dual-core phones were cool.
