The UK website The Guardian, has reported that the iPhone 5 (or whatever it ends up being called) has been sent to carriers for network testing. The alleged phones were transported in locked and sealed boxes under high security.
If true, this is pretty exciting news and could even mean that the next iPhone is in line for a September or early October release. It’s not really shocking news, as many online tech journos have expected a September release for the iPhone 5 for a while now, mainly due to both iOS5 and iCloud looking to make their debuts around the same time.
We still have absolutely no certain idea what kind of specs the next gen of iPhone will offer, or even what its physical appearance will be. We do know that Apple has apparently taken a new approach to external design and that, if the iPhone is going to be competitive, fans can expect at least a dual core CPU, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP camera and the new iOS5 operating system. Other than that pretty much everything’s up in the air right now.
In any case we’re definitely excited about the news and with the Christmas season rearing its profitable head you can bet your bottom dollar that Apple is doing everything in its power to push the next gen of iPhones out as soon as possible.
