Article Summary
The LG V60 ThinQ 5G is now available to buy in Canada. This marks the second 5G device to arrive in the Great White North after Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 family just over a month ago. The new V60 features a dual-screen format that offers up two 6.8" P-OLED displays, each with Full HD+ screens. Everything is top-of-the-line, including the Snapdragon 865 CPU, 128GB of expandable storage, 64MP primary camera and Wi-Fi 6... but customers looking for 5G may need to wait.
The new LG V60 is available to buy from Bell, Telus and Koodo.
LG V60 and 5G in Canada
The LG V60 ThinQ 5G offers blazing fast speed and low-latency pairs beautifully with the fast Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB of RAM and dual-screen P-OLED displays. Once 5G launches on the Bell and Telus networks, the 5G-ready LG V60 will be the strongest competition to Samsung's S20 lineup.
The device is available through Bell, The Source, Telus and Koodo, but none of those wireless providers offer 5G service anywhere in Canada yet. The only way to get 5G right now is as a Rogers customer, but that carrier isn't selling the LG V60. WhistleOut asked Rogers for a comment on compatibility:
"Currently, the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G series is the only device certified for (Rogers) 5G service."
Bell will likely launch 5G services next with Telus pushing it live later this year. Bell and Telus will launch 5G later this year so that LG V60 owners can access some of the fastest mobile speeds on the planet. LG offers their Second Year Promise to all flagships including the LG V60, so owners will receive a full two years of warranty coverage.

LG V60: Dual Screen Accessory
The Dual Screen accessory first appeared in Canada on last year's flagship LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen. We reviewed the LG G8X upon release and found the accessory offered up unique new ways of using a smartphone. Folding display devices from Motorola and Samsung also feature innovative split-screen software to let users multitask, but LG's two massive 6.8" displays which add up to 5 million pixels. With that kind of real estate, you can get a lot accomplished without screen space.
The Freestop hinge holds the secondary display in whatever configuration you want. We found it helpful on the LG G8X when gaming, typing a long email, or getting photos at weird angles (like those top-down Instagram shots of food). When closed, the 2.1" mono display connects you to your notifications. Unfortunately, opening the secondary screen too far can block the powerful rear cameras.
LG V60: Cameras for Content Creators
The main camera on the back is 64MP f/1.8 wide-angle (78°). Pixel-binning software can be used to create 16MP photos sharper than most smartphones could manage. This camera is LG's first smartphone that can record 8K video. The unique Voice Bokeh can isolate speech from background noise while recording in order to produce videos that look professionally shot.
Other cameras on the back include a 13MP ultra-wide lens and the Z Camera which helps the LG V60 focus quickly. The front-facing camera is 10MP with 72.5° angle.
LG V60: Bonus LG TONE Free Earbuds
Bell, The Source, Telus and Koodo offer an extra bonus to Canadians who pick up a new LG V60 ThinQ Dual Screen. LG offers their new LG TONE Free Bluetooth earbuds for free with purchase of the new 5G-enabled smartphone. The free earbuds offer is available while supplies last.
