One of the phone industry’s most iconic companies; the folks that invented the cell phone, revolutionised them with the flip-phone Razer series, and have recently made roads back to popularity with the “Moto” series of smartphones; is changing its name.
After its parent company (Motorola) sold the mobile wing off to Google in 2014, who then sold it to Lenovo around a year later, it was probably only a matter of time before Motorola Mobility went through a rebranding.
The new name? “Moto by Lenovo”.
It sounds a bit silly at first, but it really won’t matter much. Thanks to the “Moto” product line, Motorola Mobility has increasingly been referred to as “Moto” in past years. This moniker switch to “Moto by Lenovo” will make sure that the nickname is now the officially-recognised title.
Of course, we may also see the iconic Motorola logo see a refresh, as well, but that’s perhaps been overdue for a while now.
