Mini and Maxxi versions of the HTC One appear to be getting closer.
We pointed to some rumors a while back to do with a pint-sized and larger version of the HTC One, but now things are getting a bit more serious.
HTC One Mini
The HTC One Mini rumors look to have finally been justified with a teaser infograph from HTC that displays a bunch of ‘little’ things that ‘pack a punch’.
The leaked info, originating at German tech site MobileGeeks, shows the same 4.3 inch 720p display we’d heard previously.
We were hoping to for between 1.5 and 2GB of RAM, unfortunately it’s looking to be just 1GB. There’s also 16GB of internal storage and a dual-core 1.4GHz snapdragon processor.
No word at all on the camera. We’d like to think that the One Mini would come sporting a Zoe-ready ultrapixel shooter, but HTC may not be willing to take remove that distinction from its flagship just yet.
Even with a normal camera the One Mini should be as successful against Samsung’s mid-range contender as the One is vs the GS4. All it needs to do is boast similar specs to what we’ve outlined here and that same gorgeous aluminum body.
HTC One MAXXI
Last time we heard goss about an up-sized HTC One phablet it was going by the name of the Butterfly S (likely a name for the Japanese market). This giant smartphone was said to have similar specs to the One, the same aluminum design, BlinkFeed and even possibly the ultrapixel camera. Not much has changed.
Reported specs are a whopping 6 inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of on-board storage (depending on model), a 3200mAh battery and an incredible 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.
Once again there’s no word on the camera but so far this unnamed giant smartphone is sounding pretty damn good.
The 6 inch display would suggest that this behemoth would content more with the Samsung Galaxy Mega line than the popular Note series. We’ll hold of commenting on how good an idea this was until we see the effect, but if these specs turn out to be true then Samsung should be a bit worried.
The frankly awesome processor and aluminum body alone would give this phablet an edge, even without an S-Pen-style interface.
As for the name? We’re still hoping for the Big One, but judging from history HTC will probably think up something abstract, confusing and boring instead.
