Samsung has started rolling out the latest and last iteration of Jelly Bean to its flagship Galaxy S4: Android 4.3. The update itself should bring a few improvements to efficiency and performance, but nothing to get excited about. That is, unless you’ve been keen to get your hands on a Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
The Galaxy Gear does look like a decent smartwatch, but most of us were hoping that Samsung would bring something new to the game. Instead we got yet another wrist device with limited functionality, limited compatibility and a limiting price tag.
The Gear failed to impress potential buyers and reviewers alike when it first debuted, thanks in part to its limited compatibility with only the Galaxy Note III. Mostly, though, it just seemed as though Samsung had jumped on board the smartwatch fadwagon without really putting too much effort in to it.
Still, if the Galaxy Gear sounds like your thing, or if you feel as though the $300+ price tag is well within your means, then you can now go out and grab yourself one. Just make sure that your Galaxy S4 has received the update first.
