BlackBerry has announced its biggest, most powerful phone to date, with a new version of the BlackBerry 10 OS and better integration with Android apps.
The new Z30 will be an update to the all-touch BlackBerry model launched at the beginning of the year, Z10. This newer design features a 5-inch 720p resolution screen, a dual-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm processor, 2GB RAM and a whopping 2880 mAh battery capacity - capable of 25 hours of mixed use, according to BlackBerry.
But the most exciting parts of this release are software related. The Z30 will run on BB OS 10.2, and with this update comes support for Android Jelly Bean apps. This gives developers more tools to get their existing Android apps over to BlackBerry, and could help to make the new phones more appealing to a wider audience.
BlackBerry have also included a new antenna technology in the Z30, which helps the phone to adapt to areas where reception is less than perfect. Not only will this help with keeping the phone connected to the network, but it could have power saving benefits too.
The new Z30 will begin rolling out around the world, starting from next week with the UK and the Middle East. Australia will see the phone on store shelves from early October.
