Luckily, you can use your phone to delight and scare your friends and family with these Halloween apps.

Some of the best multiplayer Halloween apps include Dead by Daylight Mobile and Mimicry. Fans of scary movies will love the Horror Movies Quiz Trivia Game. Finally, kids will love the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown app and you can monitor their trick-or-treat route with the Life360 app.

Let’s dive into the best apps for Halloween so you can make the most of this year’s Halloween season.

Halloween party game apps

Dead by Daylight Mobile

Dead by Daylight Mobile—Best Halloween horror app

  • Devices: iOS and Android
  • Cost: Free with in-game purchases

Dead by Daylight is already one of the most popular horror video games on consoles and computers, but now the carnage fits in the palm of your hand. If you’ve never heard of these games, they’re essentially video game versions of a classic slasher film. Up to five people can play at the same time, with one player acting as a killer while the other four players are victims attempting to escape by solving in-game puzzles.

The app lets you play with friends, so it’s great for small groups. It’s also available on both iOS and Android devices, so it’s likely just about any phone can run the game. That said, you’ll probably have a better experience with a good phone for mobile gaming. The controls are also easy to learn and you don’t need a special controller to play. Just remember this game is geared towards adults and is rated 17+. For more kid-friendly games, check out Among Us below.

Mimicry: Multiplayer Horror

Mimicry: Multiplayer Horror—Best Halloween game for large groups

  • Devices: iOS and Android
  • Cost: Free with in-game purchases

Mimicry: Multiplayer Horror is another mobile game, but it works best with larger groups. You can play with up to nine people. The game designates one player as a monster that mimics the other eight human players. Their goal is to eliminate all the other players. Everyone else is trying to win the game by discovering who the monster is or escaping.

Mimicry is easy to learn and has pretty decent graphics for a mobile game. It’s also highly rated, earning a 4.5 on the Apple App Store and Google Play with thousands of ratings. That said, this may not be the best game for kids. While it’s not as graphic as Dead by Daylight, the app store recommends players be at least 12 years old.

Among Us

Among Us—Best Halloween game for kids

  • Devices: iOS and Android
  • Cost: Free with in-game purchases

Not everyone likes scary games, myself included. For those of us who need a tamer form of Halloween fun, Among Us is a great option. You can play a game with anywhere from four to fifteen players. The setup is a lot like Mimicry. There are players who are secret alien monsters, and there are players who are trying to discover who the monsters are or escape. Unlike the other games on this list, Among Us is a cartoon-style game. There is enough of an atmosphere to make it spooky at times, but it’s not scary.

The game is incredibly popular and it even has a Halloween update every year with special outfits for the characters. It’s easy to learn and offers a ton of potential with different map options and game settings. The most difficult part of the game is deciding which members of your friends and family are the monsters. The game is rated 4.1 on the iOS app store with over 700,000 reviews.

Horror Movies Quiz Trivia Game logo

  • Devices: iOS
  • Cost: Free

If you’re a horror film buff, this next game is for you. The Horror Movies Quiz Trivia Game offers over 100 different trivia questions on some of the most famous horror movies of all time. The questions are shuffled every time, so each game is different.

You can test yourself or use the one-on-one multiplayer mode for a horror movie trivia tournament. You can use the app as your source of questions for a Halloween Jeopardy game. Whatever you decide to do, the app is easy to use and offers hours of fun.

Walli logo

Walli—Best Halloween wallpaper app

  • Devices: iOS and Android
  • Cost: Free with in-game purchases

Walli is one of the best apps to find great new wallpapers for your phone. It offers original artwork from thousands of artists around the world. You can even download these backgrounds at 4K quality. Walli is technically not a Halloween-specific app, though it has plenty of Halloween options. You can also find Christmas wallpapers and options for a ton of other holidays. If you frequently change your phone’s wallpaper for the season, this app is a must-have.

Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown app

Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown—Best Halloween story app

If you’re looking for a good way to keep your youngest kids entertained this Halloween, the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown app is one of the best options available. The app essentially turns the television classic into a playable game. You can make your own character, then follow Charlie Brown and his friends as they experience Halloween. The game even uses the original drawings and narrations in telling the story.

The main drawback of this app is it costs money. That said, you are getting a solid product for your cash. It’s a highly-rated and award-winning app. Plus, you likely already know the story, so there are no scary surprises or things to be worried about in the app.

Do I have enough data for my apps?

For most of these apps, you’re going to need an internet connection to get the full experience. Phone apps use more data than almost any other function of your phone, so check out our data usage guide to figure out how much high-speed data you normally use. While needing a ton of data may not be a problem at home, you’ll need a data plan for anywhere you don’t have a free Wi-Fi connection. Luckily there are plenty of great unlimited plans you can take advantage of that won’t eat into your candy budget.

Smaller carriers called MVNOs offer service at discounted rates on the larger carrier’s networks. While they may not have as many perks, you can typically find solid plan options with plenty of priority data at a much friendlier price than the major carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Plus, these carriers usually offer access to 5G networks too, so you can count on having fast speeds.

Best phone plans for Halloween apps

Public Mobile offers service on Telus' nationwide 5G network. You can snag an 30GB of 5G data and unlimited talk and text for just $40/month. Even better? Public doesn't require a contract; you can leave whenever you find a better deal.

If you want a plan with Bell's network, but not its prices, you could try out Virgin Plus (formerly Virgin Mobile). The carrier's $34 plan gives you 40GB of 5G data and unlimited talk and text on one of Canada's largest networks. That’s more than enough speed for basic browsing.

Customers wanting Rogers service can look into Fido. Fido's best plan is the Data, Talk & Text Plan with 30GB, which is just $45/month if you enroll in Auto-Pay. That's a deal so good we named it one of the best cell phone plans in Canada.
