Plans starting at just $35/month
- Coverage on the Rogers network
- Convenient month-to-month prepaid plans
- Unlimited texting and Canada-wide calling on all plans
7-Eleven SpeakOut is an MVNO that runs on the Rogers wireless network. You get the same 4G LTE speeds the parent network offers, but your monthly cost will be less than a plan on Rogers. To help keep rates low, 7-Eleven SpeakOut doesn’t get access to the Rogers 5G network or unlimited data access.
Despite the speed and data caps, we think 7-Eleven SpeakOut is an excellent option for anyone who needs mobile service at a reasonable rate. Rogers’ 4G LTE network is available across Canada and the basics are often all you need. Read on to learn what we like and what could use improvement with 7-Eleven SpeakOut.

7-Eleven SpeakOut Plans
We love that 7-Eleven SpeakOut’s plans are all simple to understand, inexpensive, and provide all of the basics without requiring a contract.
What we like: Cheap 4G LTE plans
Getting access to cheap 4G LTE plans that include a good amount of data isn’t always easy, but SpeakOut makes it simple. Rogers is among Canada’s largest and fastest networks, and you get to use it for a fraction of the cost. For instance, you can pay just $35/month for a 4G LTE plan with 2GB of data.
What we like: Simple plan options
There’s no credit check or need to sign any long-term agreements. This freedom lets you pay for the plan and data you need—without overpaying for things you don’t. There are only four plan options to choose from; all you’ll have to decide is how much data you need every month.
What we like: Unlimited Canada-wide talk and international texting
Not having to track minutes or messages while getting all of the perks of having a prepaid plan can relieve phone use anxiety. SpeakOut gives you the ability to have an always-open line of communication with friends and family, providing peace of mind.
What we don't like: No 5G network access
While providing 5G data isn’t an expectation for prepaid carriers, it would be nice to see premium prepaid options that feature 5G’s exceptional speed. Getting 4G LTE over 3G is a solid consolation, though.
What we don't like: No unlimited data usage
Many prepaid carriers offer unlimited data usage with reduced speeds, so it wouldn’t shock us if 7-Eleven SpeakOut started offering this feature sooner rather than later. For now, data beyond the plan allotment will cost you $0.15/MB. The plan with the most data caps out at 9GB, which won’t be enough for everyone.
What we don't like: Limited phone options
The phone selection is limited to refurbished models of older iPhone and Samsung Galaxy devices right now. There are no financing options, so you must purchase them outright online.
7-Eleven SpeakOut Coverage
Your 7-Eleven SpeakOut SIM card will keep you connected everywhere that Rogers customers have service. Rogers covers almost all Canadians, but those living in northern parts of Canada will have slightly less reliable coverage. Check out the map below to confirm coverage in all the areas you frequent.
7-Eleven SpeakOut vs. Competitors
If cheap prepaid plans are what you’re after, there are several other competitors to keep in mind while shopping.
7-Eleven SpeakOut vs. Public Mobile
Public Mobile is Telus’ subcarrier prepaid brand. While 7-Eleven SpeakOut offers simplicity, Public Mobile provides you with multiple options. There are 5G and 4G data plans available on Public Mobile, so everyone can find a plan that fits their needs, but the 5G plans are a bit more expensive. Public Mobile also has its Public Points system to help you save on your monthly bill through activities like paying for your service and contributing in the community forums.
- Cheap 4G LTE options
- Simple to buy and use
- No 5G or unlimited data
- Sparse online-only phone selection
- Best coverage
- Public Points system
- 5G and 4G options
- No phone selection
7-Eleven SpeakOut vs. Lucky Mobile
There's a prepaid subcarrier for all three major brands, and Lucky Mobile is Bell's. With Lucky Mobile, you get good coverage and solid data allowances, but auto-pay is needed to match many competitors' data offerings at similar prices. That said, Lucky Mobile gives you unlimited low-speed data beyond your plan's data limit. The 128kbps speeds won't fly through any activities, but it's better than extra data charges.
- Cheap 4G LTE options
- Simple to buy and use
- No 5G or unlimited data
- Sparse online-only phone selection
- Great coverage
- Only 4G and 3G plans
- Only basic phone options
7-Eleven SpeakOut vs. Chatr
Both Chatr and 7-Eleven SpeakOut use the Rogers network for their service, but there are a couple of key differences when it comes to their offerings. All of Chatr’s 4G and 3G data plans include unlimited data at 64kbps beyond the data allotment of the plan and a 500MB bonus with auto-pay.
- Cheap 4G LTE options
- Simple to buy and use
- No 5G or unlimited data
- Sparse online-only phone selection
- Cheap phone options readily available
- Only 4G and 3G plans
- No reward point system
7-Eleven SpeakOut Mobile Phones
There are a handful of refurbished devices that you can buy exclusively through the 7-Eleven Speakout website. You must pay for the device in full, and your options will vary depending on what’s available at any given time. As of this writing, the best options include the iPhone XS and the Samsung Galaxy S10. A basic phone called the Sky Elite C55 is also available if you’re in a pinch and need something temporary.
Recap: Is 7-Eleven SpeakOut Right for You?
Anyone in the market for a cheap and prepaid 4G LTE plan will love what 7-Eleven SpeakOut offers. You don't have to sort through a bunch of complicated plans as only four are available, with the only differences resting on the amount of data and prices. There aren't any extra features included, but that's not the market that 7-Eleven SpeakOut is catering to.
If you want more options or 3G speeds are enough, then all of Public Mobile, Lucky Mobile, and Chatr have something unique to offer you. There's a reason to consider them all with Public Points, fast unlimited data, and bonus data, respectively.
