Attention readers with friends and family in the US: American prepaid carrier Cricket Wireless is adding unlimited calls to Canada to two of its monthly plans.
Starting now, all Cricket Smart and Pro plans will include unlimited calls from the US to landlines and mobiles in Canada, and unlimited US-to-Canada messaging.
The features will be added free of charge to both plans. The $50 Smart Plan includes unlimited talk and text and 5GB of LTE data, while the $60 Pro Plan comes with unlimited talk and text and 10GB. Both plans also include unlimited international texting to 35 countries.
There are some restrictions on Cricket's Canadian offer. The Northwest Territories are excluded, although all other provinces and territories appear to be covered.
Switch to Cricket, save more
Cricket’s addition of free calls and texts to Mexico was a welcome inclusion for the many Americans with friends and family south of the border – now customers with Canadian contacts can also enjoy the benefits of unlimited voice and messaging every month.
The move makes Cricket the only US prepaid carrier to offer unlimited calling and texting to both Mexico and Canada from just $50 per month, and customers who sign on for AutoPay billing can also save a further $5 on every bill.
As a bonus for customers switching to Cricket from T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost or MetroPCS, the prepaid brand is also still offering a free month of service for new subscribers on Smart and Pro plans as part of its ‘Switch and Save’ promotion.
