Is Apple’s redesigned operating system giving you grief, or worse, headaches? While the flash new system might run smoothly on flash new iPhones, owners of older handsets are finding some of the new effects are slowing them down.
If you fit into this category, the folks over at Phone Arena have published a great tip to help speed things up. Essentially, it is about locating which settings control the gaudy new effects — and if you think you can find them easily by yourself, think again.
Apple has hidden the offending settings under the ‘Accessibility’ heading, which itself lives under ‘General’ settings. Here’s the step by step:
1. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility
2. Turn on the [Increase Contrast] and [Reduce Motion] options
Done! Easy wasn’t it?
You should see the differences straight away. Turning on ‘Reduce Motion’ with disable the zooming in and out effect when you use apps, replacing it with a soft cross-dissolve.
Increase Contrast will reduce motion blur effects, according to Phone Arena, but this is much harder to see. Still, this is no doubt that these small steps make a big improvement.
