Samsung AllShare, also called Samsung Link, is a service that lets Samsung devices, Samsung TVs and your PC access and share photos, videos and even music between themselves, streamed over any internet connection.
Linking your phone to your TV with AllShare
To do this you’ll need a Samsung Smart TV, a Samsung Android smartphone and a network they’re both connected to, either by WiFi or Ethernet cable. Both you TV and phone should already have AllShare installed, although on your phone it may be called Samsung Link.
First, you’ll have to change some settings in your phone. Go to [Settings] > [Nearby Devices] and enable it. Your TV should appear as a device starting with “[TV]”. Be careful not to allow every device that pops up, you want to make sure you know what you’re letting in.
If you want to remove a device’s access to your phone hit [Allowed devices list].
Once you have allowed your TV access, hit the [Smart] button on your TV remote. On the screen, select AllShare and your Android handset should be visible. If you already have another device synced with your TV’s AllShare then go to the top right and select [Change Contents/Devices].
To switch between Videos, Pictures and Music use the up and down buttons on the TV remote.
Once you’re done you’ll want to disable Nearby Devices on your phone again, otherwise you’ll get a lot of annoying pop-up requests from unknown devices.
Linking your phone to your PC, or between phones, with Samsung Link
To do this you’ll need to download Samsung Link and register your PC.
This time around you don’t have to enable Nearby Devices on your phone. Once you’ve downloaded Samsung Link and signed in with your Samsung account, it should pop up automatically in the Samsung Link phone app under Registered Devices. To access this menu hit [All content] at the top left of the Photos/Music/Video/Documents/Files screen.
You can download or stream any of the content displayed. Alternatively, you can send content from your phone to the PC by selecting your phone in the Registered Devices list and tapping and holding a file. If you wish to send multiple files tap the ticked-box symbol in the top right corner.
You can also switch things around and do it via the PC. Open your browser and go to link.Samsung.com. Your registered devices will be on the left. Once again you have the option to download from, or send files to, any of these devices.
Sending between phones is the same as sending from a phone to a PC, just make sure you select the correct device from the Registered Devices list.
