Facebook’s auto-play ‘feature’ for videos getting you down? Other than the fact that it can be pretty annoying to be confronted with videos you didn’t choose to watch, downloading multiple short films per day can be a bad idea if you have a limited data cap.
It’s pretty easy to disable in Settings and go back to a world where you choose whether or not to download and view a vid in your news feed.
iPhone and iPad
Go to your general iOS Settings and scroll down until you see Facebook.
Tap it hit Settings. Scroll down to Auto Play and then choose between On, WiFi-Only and Off.
If data usage is your only concern then WiFi-Only is a good choice. Otherwise, just turn them off and be done with it.
Android
Open up the Facebook app and select the Menu button in the top right.
Scroll down and find App Settings under "Help & Settings".
Tap Video Auto-play and choose between On, Wi-Fi Only and Off
You're done. Go forth and enjoy your newly-reclaimed power to decide when and if you will watch a video on your Facebook feed.
