After a new plan in Ontario? We went through a few carriers and found the cheapest options for grabbing yourself a 1GB phone plan, either on contract or a BYO phone plan.

Contract

Each of these plans carries a 24 month contract. This is generally one of the best ways to get a new phone, if you don't want your wallet to take the full hit all upfront.

BYO Phone

If you've already got a handset, BYO phone plans are a great way to save money. Even better, they tend to be month-to-month, meaning that you can bounce around between them until you find the carrier with the best reception in your area, customer service you're happy with, and a price that makes you smile.

Just keep in mind that switching to a new carrier usually incurs an activation fee, so going for a new plan every month is probably not the best idea from an economic viewpoint.

As you can see, there are plenty of instances where you can get more than 1GB for very cheap. We've included these plans as well, seeing as price should be your main consideration. Plus, you can always use more data.

*The WIND 5GB plan is currently $39, this deal is slated to end on October 14

If you can get in before WIND's $39 deal is over then this is definitely the best value plan in Ontario right now.

If you're after a carrier with a larger network, then Koodo and Fido are owned by and function over the Telus and Rogers networks, respectively.

The big three carriers - Bell, Telus and Rogers, are all around $55 as well, but didn't quite make the list.
